Creating an Element in the Model Structure

You can create model elements in the Model Structure tool window using commands in the ribbon or context menu.

Context

New elements generally need to be assigned to an owner. These are packages in the simplest case.

The configuration sets whether a model element can be an owner of an element.

If you do not select a model element, a dialog appears which contains a list of possible owners.

A message appears if a model element cannot be an owner.

How to proceed
  1. Select the model element in the model structure which you want to assign the new element to.
  2. Select Start>New>New Element.

The element is created below the selected model element and the name is automatically selected to be edited. New diagrams are opened in the document area and reserved for editing.

  3. Enter the name of the element and press the [Enter] key.
  4. If you want to use the element in a diagram, then drag the new element and drop it in the diagram.
